Use
less Imported Energy
At present, virtually all the Island's energy needs are
imported.
To encourage the use of technologies which reduce the Islands
dependence on imported electricity. Jersey Electricity will
buy electricity generated by its customers. for details click

Energy from Waste Plant
A small amount of electricity is currently generated from the
Bellozane incinerator and is purchased by Jersey Electricity.
Once the new Incinerator/Energy from Waste plant is commissioned,
Jersey Electricity expects to purchase up to 5% of the Island's
power requirements from the plant. This additional on-island
generation will help to reduce the Island's reliance on imported
energy.
