Morris Architects won the Jersey Electricity Sustainability Award for the second time at this year's Construction Council Awards for their work on the refurbishment of the Pomme D'Or Farm States housing estate on the outskirts of St Helier. Jersey Electricity CEO Chris Ambler presented the 2013 award to Andrew Morris at the awards ceremony at the Hotel De France. Morris Architects won the 2010 Sustainability Award for the refurbishment of The Cedars.Read more
21/08/13 - Grande Route de St Clement closure
The third phase of excavations necessary to prepare the route for the Jersey landside cable that will connect the Island's third interconnector to France, Normandie 3, to Jersey Electricity's network starts on Tuesday 27 August resulting in the closure of La Grande Route de St Clement between 9am and 9pm for approximately one week. The road will be open Westbound only between 9pm and 9am. Access to premises will be maintained at all times and bus services are unaffected. Access to FB Fields and Samares Manor will be signposted from La Grande Route de la Cote.Read more

01/11/12 - Jersey Electricity announces 9.5% tariff increase
Electricity prices in Jersey will rise by 9.5% from 1 January 2013 - the first above-RPI increase for four years. The rise is necessary to help meet the extra costs of oil needed to generate electricity at La Collette Power Station following the permanent loss of one of Jersey's two French supply cables, Normandie 1, in June.
The rise has been forecast for some months and is comparable to recent increases in UK electricity prices of between 6% and 11%. However, the average price of electricity in Jersey remains around 6% lower than the EU average and lower than comparable islands.Read more
26/10/12 - Late night power failure as supplies are cut to sole French submarine cable
Jersey suffered an Island-wide power failure last night for the third time in six years.
Power was lost at 11.45pm when supplies through Jersey Electricity's remaining submarine supply cable to France, Normandie 2, were disrupted following a problem with a component in France which links the cable to the French grid.Read more
24/10/12 - Young high-flyers celebrate Construction Awards ‘Double’
Two young Jersey Electricity employees were honoured at this year's Construction Council Awards. Stuart Gray, 32, won the Ogier Industry Achiever Award, while Jonathan Frain, 22, won the Harsco Infrastructure Apprentice of the Year.
Stuart, a Senior Building Service Engineer with Jersey Energy, has worked on the States' Energy from Waste plant, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust Visitor Centre and JT's Data Centre. Jonathan is one of only two maintenance joiners in the Civil Works Division. He joined Jersey Electricity as an apprentice in 2008.Read more
22/10/12 - Record number of faulty electric blankets removed
Jersey Electricity tested a record 220 electric blankets and removed another record 37 from service at the annual two-day safety test at Western Fire Station, St Brelade.
In a joint initiative to reduce the risk of house fires caused by electrical fault, Jersey Fire and Rescue Service and JE invited Islanders to take their electric blankets for a free safety check by qualified electrical engineers. Those found to be faulty or over 10 years old were retained and disposed of.Read more

Family Nursing and Home Care nurses have seen their training sessions enhanced with a gift of two 50" flat screen TVs which double as computer monitors to enable Powerpoint presentations, webinars and conference calls.
The TVs, worth £1,200, are a belated Christmas gift from Jersey Electricity which has purchased vital equipment for FNHC for the past five years with money saved by not sending corporate Christmas cards.Read more

Island students can this year benefit from the new Jersey Electricity Bursary Award Scheme that aims to provide financial support and work experience to students undertaking a first degree course in an engineering discipline.
Applications are invited from students, ordinarily resident in Jersey for the previous five years, who have been accepted, firmly or provisionally, by a university or equivalent institution for a full-time first degree course in electrical or power engineering, civil, mechanical or control and instrumentation engineering.Read more

30/04/12 - Le Rocquier scoop £1,500 Jersey Electricity prize
Pupils from Le Rocquier School provided all six short-listed entries in the Forgotten Forest Logo Competition, with Carys Dale designing the winning entry that will be used by Jersey Trees for Life (JTFL) on all material connected with the Forgotten Forest project.
Le Rocquier won £1,500 in prizes from Jersey Electricity, sponsors of the competition. This included £500 cash for a year's sponsorship of a dedicated zone in the forest and funding for an educational visit. The money was raised for JTFL by Jersey Electricity donating £5 for every customer who switched from paper to electronic bills.Read more
14/03/12 - Replacement diesel engines arrive very special delivery
Jersey Electricity took delivery of two 11MW Sulzer diesel engines from Saudi Arabia in March to replace its two remaining 5MW Mirrlees engines that were decommissioned and dismantled at the end of last year.
The 452 tons of generators and auxiliary equipment arrived in Jersey aboard one of the largest ships ever seen in St Helier Harbour, the 7,3890-ton, Croatian-registered Atlant Frauke, and moved to La Collette Power Station on an 11-axle, 88-wheel low loader brought from Portugal.Read more

La Mare Wine Estate are the winners of the 2011 Jersey Electricity Environmental Award. Short-listed Small Organisation for the second year running, they took top honours this year by beating Geomarine and Port of Jersey (Short-listed Large Organisation) and Jersey College for Girls (Short-listed School).
Presenting the Award at the Jersey Enterprise Awards Gala Night at Fort Regent, Jersey Electricity CEO Chris Ambler said: 'Our winner is, indeed, a worthy one. La Mare staff have embedded sustainable best practice in every conceivable business area.'Read more
21/02/12 - Jersey Electricity announces 2.9% price rise
Jersey Electricity will raise tariffs by 2.9% from 1 May 2012, the first rise in electricity prices in the Island for over three years - excluding the 2% GST increase applied by the States of Jersey last summer. Prices will then be frozen for the remainder of the calendar year.
The rise is significantly below the Jersey rate of inflation, currently 5% according to the latest Retail Prices Index. It is also considerably less than last year's 21% increase in the price of local heating oil, 14% increase in local gas prices.Read more

Jersey Electricity customers who have switched to paperless electronic biils and statements will help to fund the regeneration of a unique collection of trees at Val de la Mare. The Company is donating £5 to Jersey Trees for Life (JTFL) for every customer who switched from paper bills. Some of the funds raised so far will help JTFL to launch the 'Forgotten Forest' project to mark the charity's 75th anniversary year.Read more
