The following factors need to be considered before comparing fuel prices in Jersey.

 

How much useful energy is delivered for each kW purchased?

 

If using gas or oil, there are inefficiencies between 10% and 25% depending on the boiler system used. This is because a percentage of the energy escapes up the flue or chimney.

 

Electricity is delivered directly to an appliance with virtually no waste of energy.

Are you using the correct tariff?

 

Electricity and Gas offer different tariffs, it is important to check the correct tariff is being used.

 

Electricity offers three off peak tariffs suitable for hot water and heating.

 

                       

Economy 7     

Delivers discounted electricity for seven hours a night, ideal for suitable storage heating and water heating.

 

 

Comfort Heat

A more flexible version of Economy 7, delivering discounted electricity for eight hours during specified periods of the day and night.

  

 

Economy 20
