Plough 4

The tide may wait for no man but man certainly had to wait for the tide on Saturday morning again as GPC prepared to plough the cable into the beach from where the subsea section emerges to the ducting under the dune.

In yet another textbook operation from the GPC beach team, three of the huge excavators were deployed along with the plough; one helping feed the cable up from the rollers on to the plough share and the other two helping to tow the plough along the soft sand.

In one smooth action, the plough makes the furrow almost two metres deep, lowers the cable into it and then back fills the trench. The operation started at 8am and was all over within four hours.
