Havre des Pas traffic restrictions

Havre des Pas will be subject to traffic restrictions for up to 18 weeks starting on Tuesday 15 October due to excavation works that are necessary preparation for the 90kV land cable that will eventually connect to Jersey Electricity’s third interconnector to France, Normandie 3.

To accommodate morning and evening peak traffic periods from Monday to Friday, Havre des Pas will be open Westbound only from 7am to 9.30am and open Eastbound only from 3pm to 6.30pm.

The road will be closed completely from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Sundays.

Outside these times, two-way traffic will be maintained with the aid of portable traffic lights. Access to premises will be maintained at all times.

The excavation works have been divided into Five Phases starting at the Green Street end of Havre des Pas.

Libertybus will operate a shuttle bus service between Green Street and St Clements Road to link passengers to other unaffected bus routes, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3pm  and from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Sundays.

The shuttle service will operate in a continuous circle every 20 minutes from Green Street, on to La Route du Fort, turning down Roseville Street, left on to Havre des Pas, left onto St Clements Road and back to Green Street.

The excavations and duct laying on the 7km land cable route from Grouville, where Normandie 3 will eventually come ashore, to JE's £10million switching station at South Hill, began in May and are expected to take 15 months.

The route was chosen to obtain separation from existing 90kV cabling to the north which helps to maintain network security. The work is being carried out on behalf of main contractors Prysmian by local civil engineers Jayen Ltd.

The 90,000-Volt (90kV) cable itself is being manufactured in Gron, France, following the signing in February of a £40million contract with Prysmian for the supply and installation of both the Jersey land cable and 35km, 100MW submarine cable.

We apologise for any inconvenience and disruption these necessary works cause to residents and commuters and we will endeavour to complete the works as quickly as possible.
