Search is on for Pride of Jersey Environmentalist of 2017
Pride of 2016: Last year's winner Ani Binet flanked by Graeme Le Saux, Chris Ambler and Nerina Pallot
The search is on for the Pride of Jersey Environmentalist/s of 2017. Now in their third year, the Pride Awards, organised by the Jersey Evening Post, have proved a huge success and as the provider of low carbon energy, Jersey Electricity is delighted to once again sponsor this award in particular.
We are looking for an individual or group who works hard to improve our island environment or helps in the conservation of our wildlife as last year’s winner Ani Binet demonstrated. Ani set up Annyctalus Ecology in 2013, a non-profit organisation that aims to increase knowledge about Jersey bat species and ensure their best protection. She has been the driving force in the study and preservation of bats in the Channel Islands for over 10 years and has brought Jersey in line with international standards on the subject. Ani was presented with her award and prize of a Bat Logger at the awards ceremony, hosted by Graeme Le Saux and Nerina Pallot, in the wonderful surroundings of the grounds of Government House.
JE CEO Chris Ambler said: ’Community spirit and the willingness to help each other are things that make Jersey special and that is only possible thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who give up their time and share their skills to help others. All too often these are the unsung heroes and heroines of our community. The Pride Awards are a wonderful way of saying thank you and spreading the good news to encourage others to do the same.’
