St Martin has become the latest parish to join Jersey Electricity’s Evolve public electric vehicle (EV) charging network following the opening of two 22kW dual chargers that serve four charging bays.

Connétable Karen Shenton Stone said: ‘This is a good day for the Parish of St. Martin. We are committed to the environment and this is one small, but important, step in our journey. I am very grateful to Jersey Electricity for providing these charging points in such a central location in the Parish.’

The St Martin charging bays come just a month after we opened two bays in the Parish of St Ouen, bringing our investment in EV charging infrastructure to around £500,000

There are currently 66 Evolve public charging bays in the Island, including three 50kW rapid chargers.

JE Director of Commercial Services Peter Cadiou said: ‘Although we expect most EV owners to charge at home, we’re continuing to invest in public charging infrastructure to give confidence to those considering moving to electric transport and to support Jersey’s carbon neutrality ambitions.’

EV ownership in Jersey was up by 263 year-on-year at the end of September to 835 all-electric vehicles registered. Pure electric cars were up 204 to 578 and commercial vans rose by 30 to 141. Electric motorcycles almost doubled to 68. Hybrid vehicles have increased by over 200 to 1209.
