Recently Londoners may have caught a glimpse of the new electric black cab, as the vehicle enters its final stage of testing around the UK capital.
The deadline for all newly licensed taxis to have zero emission capability comes into effect from January 2018, increasing the importance of the next few weeks of testing for LEVC who are manufacturing the new vehicle.
To date, the electric taxi has been through some rigorous testing conditions, including the extremes of both the Arctic and Death Valley, in a mission to make the grade as the world’s most advanced black cab.
Real London cabbies are now taking the wheel, test driving the new high-tech vehicle, gathering vital information on emissions saved and trying the charging point infrastructure currently rolling out across the capital.
As this new wave of low emission vehicles begin to be adopted by cabbies early next year, will Jersey be seeing electric taxis in the near future?
