Members of the public and a representative of St Helier Parish In Bloom kindly joined almost 20 Jersey Electricity employees and their families on the JEP ecoJersey Coastal Clean-up at Havre des Pas beach on Sunday. The volunteers, some with dogs, filled two large sacks with rubbish. The most common items found being cigarette butts, especially in areas around beach cafes.
Havre des Pas beach was just one of ten beaches targeted by volunteers from local companies and the public in the ecoJersey Clean-up. Jersey Electricity chose it, as we did for last year’s Coastal Clean-Up, as it is the closest beach to our Power Station. Cigarette butts were also the scourge at Greve d’Azette and Long Beach.
Jersey Electricity is a launch partner of the JEP’s ecoJersey initiative and the Coastal Clean-up follows JE employees’ participation in the ecoJersey Countryside Clean Up at Noirmont in April.
