A team of six from JE recently swapped their desks for the great outdoors, joining Jersey Trees for Life at St Ouen Arboretum to plant 21 trees that will form part of a new Himalayan trail for Islanders to enjoy.
This initiative began when Jersey Trees for Life applied to 100 Projects That Matter in late 2025, with the vision of creating a unique Himalayan trail to enhance the Arboretum’s walking paths and offer visitors a tranquil space to connect with nature.
To ensure the trail thrives in Jersey’s climate, the team carefully selected tree species that would adapt well to local conditions. These include Himalayan varieties such as Aesculus Indica, Cedrus Deodara, Cornus Capitata.
Once complete, the Himalayan trail will provide a serene environment for the public to explore, promoting wellbeing, mental health, and a deeper appreciation for trees and biodiversity. It’s a project that not only enriches the Arboretum but also supports vital environmental habitats for future generations.
