Types of home air conditioning

There are two main types of air conditioning units that are suitable for Jersey homes:

  • Standalone air conditioners - free standing units that cool the space where they are located.
  • Fixed air conditioners - these have an indoor and outdoor unit, similar to those you see in shops and offices.

Efficient cooling when you need it most

Air conditioning units are very efficient to run. Although not common in Jersey more and more customers are considering Air Conditioning and as the cost of installation is becoming more affordable, it's no longer seen as a luxury purchase.

It is, however being increasingly specified in modern building techniques to cool well-insulated homes.

Installing air conditioning

Standalone air conditioners don't need specialist installation. You simply plug them into a mains socket and place the hose out of a window or door.

On the other hand, fixed air conditioners require careful design, installation and ongoing maintenance. They comprise of an indoor unit fixed to a wall, and an outdoor unit either fixed to a wall or installed on the ground.

An electrician carries out maintenance.
