Jersey Child Care Trust have over 20 support workers and early years practitioners who work with over 80 children across Jersey’s nurseries to make sure they’re supported in their introduction to school life. With 100 Projects That Matter, we’ve funded training for the charity’s early year practitioners and support workers to learn Makaton signing.
Makaton Signing is an aid to communication which children and adults can use when speaking to make sure that they are understood and can communicate clearly. This training will give the charity’s team the resources they need to provide the best support and care for the children supported.
Education and training are at the heart of our community-giving initiatives. We believe in creating an environment where everyone has equal opportunities to learn, grow, and express themselves. This project empowers children with big feelings to share what’s on their minds, while giving support workers the confidence and skills to interpret and respond, fostering deeper relationships during those crucial early years.
