We were delighted that Chief Minister Deputy Kristina Moore and Assistant Treasury Minister Deputy Steve Ahier took time out of their weekend to visit some of the many sites our restoration teams are working at.
JE’s Chairman Phil Austin and CEO Chris Ambler explained to the Chief Minister the complexities of the restoration work which included replacing damaged overhead power lines and fallen poles once trees had been removed.
Weekend repairs were challenging due to the continued windy weather and frequent heavy showers, plus the need to ensure our crews and nearby community remained safe at all times.
The Chief Minister was interested to hear that more than 80 colleagues were working at various sites around the Island, and many others were working behind the scenes dealing with customer care. Colleagues were also making arrangements for vulnerable customers to be moved into hotel accommodation until restoration to their homes had been completed.
The JE teams visited were pleased that senior Ministers had made the effort to see for themselves what happens behind the scenes when dedicated teams of highly trained people go the extra mile to repair the widespread damage caused by such a violent storm.
