As part of their award, JCP received ten copies of The Safety Superhero by author Bethany Holroyd, who is also the Founder of The Safety Superhero Academy. The books, provided by Jersey Electricity, will now become a valuable resource within the school’s library, helping to continue important conversations about safety awareness.
Jersey Electricity (JE) volunteers take part in Safety In Action each year, delivering interactive kitchen safety workshops to local primary school pupils.
JE’s Head of Health, Safety & Sustainability Ross Muir said, “Safety In Action is a fantastic opportunity to engage with children across the Island about safety in the home. It’s important that children are given the knowledge and tools to identify dangers, and Safety In Action is an interactive and fun way of doing this. Our colleagues also get great joy from interacting with the children and love being involved. Congratulations to JCP on their achievement. We’re happy to offer these books to the JCP library to encourage ongoing safety awareness.”
Mandy Le Tensorer, Child Accident Prevention Co-ordinator, added, “The pupils demonstrated outstanding engagement, enthusiasm and understanding of key safety messages throughout the Safety in Action workshops. This CAPJ event is only possible thanks to the support of partners like Jersey Electricity and the incredible commitment of volunteers who give their time to help educate children across the Island. Together, we are equipping young people with essential knowledge and life skills that stay with them for years to come.”
Last year’s CAP Safety in Action event, held in July, welcomed more than 1,000 Year 5 pupils from across the Island. The programme features six fast paced, engaging workshops covering Fire Prevention, Kitchen Safety, First Aid, Water Safety, Road Safety and Outdoor Safety. Each session is designed to provide essential safety messages, practical life skills and confidence to help children keep themselves, and those around them, safe.
