"Meeting these children was a unique and amazing experience for all of us and me personally. The children were excited and asked various questions that ranged from technical and curious aspects.
Many were keen to learn about Jersey Electricity's roles and wanted to know the Island's main source of electricity. Others already did the research and knew it was from France through three subsea cables. Other children asked about the qualifications and skills required to join JE. Also, some of them had the curiosity to ask about the wind turbine project and how Jersey Electricity is contributing to the Island’s sustainability goals.
Additionally, I believe that seeing a woman in engineering had a significant impact on some of the girls because this will encourage them to consider such a job and pursue careers in this field in the future.
Nevertheless, meeting with my colleagues and exploring the technical side of their work (pulling some fuses and seeing the smart meters…), was a great experience for these kids.
Overall, the experience was great and I’m proud to be part of it."
