Economy 20 at a glance
This two-rate tariff is suitable for electric central heating systems, underfloor heating or electric flow boilers.
It provides:
- 20 hours of cheaper electricity in any 24 hours for approved central heating and hot water systems
- All other appliances run on the General Power and Lighting Rate at all times
Explaining the rates
Economy 20 Rate
This rate is used for the 20 hours of cheaper electricity in any 24 hours. It can be used for approved central heating and hot water systems.
For the remaining four hours, in any 24, the energy supply to your heating and hot water will be interrupted.
These times are programmed in your meter and unique to each meter. To find out what these times are, please call our Customer Care team on 505460 or send an email to jec@jec.co.uk.
No interruption will be more than two and a half hours at a time.
You can override the interruption if your heating system already has a booster switch fitted. The units used for heating when the booster switch is used will be charged at our General Power and Lighting Rate.
General Power and Lighting Rate
Electricity used at any time by all other appliances will be charged at the General Power and Lighting Rate.

Economy 20 vs Economy 20 Plus
Economy 20 Plus also offers 20 hours of cheaper electricity for your heating and hot water.
Unlike Economy 20, it provides an uninterrupted supply for 24 hours, with four peak hours charged at a higher rate.
