An introduction to Jersey Electricity

We're a vertically integrated power utility dealing in the importation, generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. We're listed on the London Stock Exchange and serve around 50,000 domestic and commercial customers.

Providing affordable, secure and sustainable energy is our core objective. Our non-Energy businesses include Retail, IT advisory, Building Services, Environmental Engineering and Property.

Around 95% of the electricity we supply is imported from low carbon, hydro (34%) and nuclear (66%) sources in France through three undersea supply cables.

These cable links have given us the ability to virtually completely de-carbonise Jersey’s electricity supply. The remainder of our electricity comes from the Government-owned Energy from Waste Plant and since 2019 some on-Island solar PV generation. We maintain and test generation assets at La Collette Power Station and Queen’s Road in the unlikely event of disruption to imported supplies.

Enablers for our vision

A low carbon future is within our power. And it’s projects like these that’ll help us create a sustainable island we can all be proud of.
