Happy customer stories
At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences. But don’t just take our word for it - hear directly from the people who matter most: our customers. From hassle-free installs to saving 50% on heating bills, these stories highlight the real impact air source heat pumps have had on customers' homes.
Meet Julie
Julie didn't think they'd be able to move to an air source heat pump as they live in a single-glazed, listed property, but to her surprise, their heating bills have halved.
Meet Peter
Peter installed an air source heat pump over two years ago.
Meet Janine
Janine replaced her oil boiler with a heat pump 15 years ago and recently upgraded to a new, modern Mitsubishi heat pump.

Keeping bills low is very important to us as a retired couple, and we're very happy to be currently saving around a quarter of what we would otherwise be spending with an efficient oil boiler.

Previous heating system and motivations to upgrade
I previously had a heat pump, after initially switching from an oil boiler over 15 years ago. The old heat pump was starting to age and needed replacement, but the new, modern Mitsubishi unit will have a lifetime of over 20 years.
Installation experience
This heat pump was installed by JEBS in early 2023, after I obtained a free quote from Jersey Electricity. The JEBS team completed the job in less than a week, and were respectful, helpful and tidy throughout.
The new heat pump sits in the same location as the last one in the garden. The cylinder lives in my kitchen cupboard, and the components take up less space than the previous unit, meaning that we have been able to put some shelves in to store food for our cat and two dogs.
Living with a heat pump
The new heat pump continues to keep us and our pets toasty warm in our house throughout winter now that we're retired. We aren’t big fans of digital tools or interfaces, so having a heat pump system that we can just ‘set and forget’, and trust that it will keep us a warm 23 degrees all day is perfect for us.
The new, more modern heat pump makes noticeably less noise than the previous unit, which was an unexpected benefit. The old oil boiler before that used to live in the same kitchen cupboard, so eliminating that noise from our kitchen too.

Words of advice
I'm very upset by the misconceptions that I often see on social media claiming that heat pumps don’t work, are expensive to run, or require your house to be hugely insulated, as my own experiences prove this to be untrue.
They can be a little bit more complicated to understand, but I'm very happy to no longer be burning fossil fuels and would still highly recommend the technology to those considering trying to decarbonise and reduce their energy bills, especially now a government grant of up to £9,000 is available.
Meet Nick
Nick’s old oil-fired boiler and bunded tank was 22 years old when he decided to make the switch to a new Vaillant heat pump in Spring 2025.

Motivations to make the switch
We had an oil-fired boiler and bunded tank which were 22 years old by the time of the change and had reached the end of their expected lives.
The boiler stopped working a couple of weeks prior to the heat pump installation, at which point there was no sense in looking into repairs. The estimated cost to replace the boiler and tank was approximately £7,000.
I arranged EPC surveys in August 2024 and subsequently appointed JEBS as the contractor.
It was great that before the installation started the government Low Carbon Heating Incentive grant increased from £5,000 to £9,000.
Based on our annual oil usage I estimated that we would more than halve our annual heating cost by switching to a heat pump.
Heat pump lifestyle
The heat pump provides heating and hot water quietly and economically
The heat pump has operated continuously as intended, delivering consistent warmth around the clock at minimal expense.
There were intangible benefits too, such as reclaiming space in the garage and garden by removing the boiler and tank and silencing the boiler.
Impact on bills
Based on our usage to date the annual estimated running costs appear to be about £433 compared to an equivalent annual oil cost of £950.
Installation experience and process
The installation by JEBS was excellent. There were no hold-ups and the system was installed and fully operational on the appointed day. The process couldn’t have been better.
Advice to future heat switchers
Before thinking about any other changes, I recommend that homeowners install as much insulation as practical to minimise heat losses.
For the technically minded there are many relevant YouTube videos to watch which helped with our decision-making. Among the best are Urban Plumbers who report on a selection of retrofit installations, Adam Chapman of Heat Geek with a huge selection of detailed technical dissertations and a home-owner study course, and Roger Bisby of the Skill Builder channel who highlights potential installation issues.
