Former National Finalists Trinity are top of the class again when it comes to First Aid coming first and second in this year’s St John Ambulance Junior Schools’ First Aid Competition supported by Jersey Electricity and Scotto Trust.
Former National Finalists Trinity are top of the class again when it comes to First Aid coming first (above) and second (below) in this year’s St John Ambulance Junior Schools’ First Aid Competition supported by Jersey Electricity and Scotto Trust.
The two teams of four beat seven other teams from four Jersey Primary Schools over tests and emergency scenarios that included treating a dog bite and tending to a person with a badly cut arm.
The Year 6 pupils were presented with their trophies and certificates by JE Health, Safety and Environment Engineer Chris Bester and St John Schools’ Programme Co-Ordinator and Trainer Sue Pugsley handed over the £500 and £300 prizes from Scotto Trust at Key Stage 2 assembly today.
First Aid is now an after school club at Trinity run by teacher Chris Godden who said: ‘The club had 14 members this year training from January to March and we picked eight to take part in the competition.
‘We won two years ago and went through to the National Finals in the UK where two of our pairs came first but you never know what can happen in competition. Confidence is a big thing and both this year’s teams were quite confident. Unfortunately there are no National Finals being held this year.’
Les Landes came an impressive third on their first time of entering. Other schools taking part were last year’s winners D’Auvergne, Plat Douet and Springfield.
